To say life has become monotonous lately, would be a massive understatement. I mean, when all of it first began, the prospect of indefinite work from home certainly seemed like one of the best perks of an otherwise awful situation. I was excited to skip my daily commute, I was thrilled to join all my morning meetings from bed, and I was absolutely ecstatic at the thought of not leaving my bedroom for as long as I pleased. But as I recently celebrated the anniversary of my work from home routine, I looked back and realised how naive I truly was!
Waking up to the same walls, walking up to the same desk, and doing the same 4 activities at home every day, can become real dull real quick. Now, before you come at me, let me tell you, I've already tried everything you're likely to recommend. Exercise? I did that on the regular. Go out for walks and explore the neighbourhood? Done, and pretty pointless after a while. Find easy, inexpensive hobbies? Sure, was fun at first but not anymore. Hang out with close-by friends and schedule zoom meetings with the rest? Done and done, still bored out of my mind.
Well, it didn't take too long for me to realise that a change of pace and scenery, is all my brain desperately needed. I needed to feast my eyes on nature, take in beautiful views, and explore new surroundings. But leaving the office behind, wasn't an option either. Next best thing? Work from home...but away from home! Find a beautiful staycation spot, settle in with my laptop, and make the most of these boring work from home days.
