Gandhi's Mumbai pad, Mani Bhavan, was where he spun some serious yarns (like the charkha). It was also where he hatched some major plans (like the Satyagraha movement). So popular was this crib that even Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr. came to check it out. Apparently, King was inspired by Gandhi's nonviolent methods of protest, which he used to great effect in the American civil rights movement.

Gandhi Smriti, formerly known as Birla House, is where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life. It is now a museum dedicated to his memory, and you can even see the room where he was shot and killed. But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom. Gandhi Smriti also has an exhibition on his life and work, so you can learn about the man who helped to free India from British rule.
